Cheers to WEWork!

In recent news, startup company, WeWork has told employees that meat will be taken off their menu. That means that they will not serve meat at their company events nor will employees be able to expense meals that include meat.

What they are doing is pretty damn awesome! Go team!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all our friends!

We have been so blessed to have started our business and to have met so many wonderful people on this journey. I am so excited for what 2018 has in store for us.  We wish every single one of you a happy, healthy and blessed 2018.

Thank you for your continued support,

James Aspey

I first met James Aspey in Sydney at a vegan festival a few years ago. He is truly an inspiration to so many people. His impact on the vegan movement has been absolutely incredible. Thank you James!

Happy Thanksgiving

Every year in my parent's house we have a tradition where we go around the table and say what we are thankful for. After spending the last eight years away in Australia, I am most thankful for the opportunity to be with my friends and family during this holiday.

I am also so very grateful for the new business we have created this year. The opportunity that we have to share the message about veganism has been the sole best thing about taking on this new challenge. If even one animal is saved as a positive consequence of the work and commitment we have put into this, I will be happy.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Processed meat causes cancer.

The World Health Organization considered more than 800 different studies on cancer in humans.

The study concluded that eating processed meat causes cancer. Processed meats have been classified in the same category as causes of cancer such as tobacco smoking and asbestos.

According to the Global Burden of Disease Project, an independent academic research organization, about 34 000 cancer deaths per year worldwide are attributable to diets high in processed meat.

Scary stuff!

Here's an article from the American Cancer Society discussing it.

Falling into Fall

One of our favorite things about Ontario summers is the fresh produce that is available. A hobby of mine is stopping at the vegetable and fruit stands on the side of the road where local farmers (or greens thumbs) leave out their treasures from their gardens. There’s something special about a piece of produce that was taken care of and loved over its lifetime at one’s home.

As the summer comes to an end, less side of the road stalls will be visited and we won’t be able to get the biggest, tastiest and most deliciously loved produce.  But, autumn is here! And that means apples are in season. This also means we can enjoy my mother’s famous apple crisp and share a snack with our ridiculously adorable niece Blaykly.

Here’s a guide from OntarioFarmFresh to what’s in season in Ontario. I always find this helpful before making the trip to the grocery store!
